West Ham could now see the best of Pablo Fornals after Manuel Lanzini injury
Pablo Fornals has struggled at the beginning of his West Ham career and found it difficult adapting to the Premier League.
The attacking midfielder joined for £24million () in the summer from Villarreal and so far that has looked a massive mistake.
He’s looked lightweight at times in comparison to the physical English league and has just one goal in 13 games across all competitions.
But it’s not been helped that manager Manuel Pellegrini has often shoehorned him into the XI in a wide position and also not given him a regular run of starts.
The talented 23-year-old has shown it the past he’s at his creative best in a central role behind the forward and he may settle down at the London Stadium if given a chance in the middle.
Pellegrini should now have the perfect reason to give Fornals a run of starts in the centre and it could be the opportunity he needs.
West Ham confirmed () on Monday that Manuel Lanzini was set to have surgery on a fractured collarbone, with the suggesting it could keep him injured for two months.
That will leave a sizeable whole in the team and summer addition Fornals should be the man to step up.
It’s too early to write off his West Ham future and he should be allowed the next couple of months to prove why the club splashed out big money to bring him from La Liga.
