West Ham could find their next Marko Arnautovic in reported target Arkadiusz Milik

West Ham are being linked with Napoli outcast Arkadiusz Milik, who could be an excellent signing for them if they achieve the business during the current January transfer window.

, the Hammers have made a £6.3million bid this month for the left-footed striker.

The report credits Marseille with interest in Milik, who is out of contract with the Serie A club at the end of the season.

Milik hasn’t played a single minute this campaign after being left out of Napoli’s squad in the Serie A and Europa League, but that doesn’t hide the fact he’s a proven talent.

The centre-forward has played 122 games for Italian giants Napoli and has an eye-catching return of 48 goals.

One reason West Ham should be excited about him is the similarity to ex-Hammers attacker Marko Arnautovic.

Arnautovic, who left the London Stadium in 2019 for a move to the Chinese league, is a figure that hasn’t really been replaced in the squad.

The 31-year-old was a fan favourite during his two-year spell in a West Ham shirt due to the way he lead the line with great physicality, skill and his big character.

Despite his brilliant qualities, the Hammers can’t solely rely on Michail Antonio as their only frontman during the second half of this season and need to sign a replacement for Sebastien Haller as soon as possible.

Milik looks very much in a similar mould to Arnautovic and could be his successor 18 months down the line.

Napoli forward Milik is capable of working well as a focal point with his dominance in the air, as well as being a natural finisher on his favoured left foot.

He’s built in a similar stature to Arnautovic with his bullish approach and it’s a deal that West Ham should do everything to get finalised.
