West Ham boss David Moyes ‘really pleased’ with £45m striker

David Moyes has told West Ham’s that he has been impressed with the form of Sebastien Haller during the last few weeks.

The Hammers gaffer was looking ahead to his side’s contest with Aston Villa on Monday night – praising the uncompromising Ivory Coast international.

Haller has been thrust into the limelight on the back of Michail Antonio’s injury and has done pretty well.

The 26-year-old scored the winning goal against Sheffield United last weekend and will hope to go on a run.

He has scored six goals this season but four of those have come in the Carabao Cup where he started in all three games.

Moyes has been satisfied with the frontman in the absence of Antonio.

“The three games that Antonio’s been out, Seb’s played and we’re really pleased with what he’s done.

“We wanted goals from him, we wanted assists and we wanted really good general play.

“I’m looking forward to having both him and Michail (Antonio) firing.”

TBR View – Haller could do with a run to bolster his confidence

Moyes’ comments suggest that he has been pleased with the striker’s showing but also suggest that he needs to continue working hard.

Since signing for the club in the summer of 2019 for he has bagged 13 goals in 45 appearances for the Hammers.

Haller hasn’t always been viewed as the first choice and he will fancy scoring more goals if he’s given a run in the team.

The talisman is a confidence player and his goal against the Blades last week will have put him on cloud nine.

Haller will be under no illusions that he can score even more goals – but his overall play has been good and that should give him confidence that he can be a success in the Premier League.
