West Ham are starting to see the best from Pablo Fornals
Pablo Fornals made a rocky start to his West Ham career in the opening months of this season, which came to the surprise of many.
The attacking midfielder joined the Hammers for £24million () in the summer from Villarreal and there was a lot of expectancy to light up the London Stadium.
He made a name for himself as an exciting playmaker in La Liga and had just spent the summer starring for Spain at the Under-21 European Championships.
But Fornals has had a tough few months adjusting to English football and he found himself struggling for league starts under manager Manuel Pellegrini.
The 23-year-old’s only goal so far came in a Carabao Cup win over League Two outfit Newport County in August and it didn’t look like there was an obvious spot for him in the team.
Fornals appears now to have turned the corner and it must be stressed that some players need time adjusting to new surroundings in an unfamiliar country.
The Spaniard has now registered three assists in the last four league matches, which included a brilliant cushioned chest for Sebastien Haller’s goal at the weekend in the 1-0 win over Southampton.
He’s a versatile player that can play in wide or central attacking positions, but appears to have found a decent spot on the left flank and that allows him to cut inside to help influence play.
West Ham supporters should be delighted to see the work-rate and pressing that he’s starting show in his game.
He was ultimately signed to help deliver end product in the final third and he’s starting to show his true colours as his confidence continues to grow.
