West Ham are considering signing three strikers before deadline day with fans told to take one link very ‘seriously’

There’s just over a week to go in the transfer window, and West Ham are still looking for a new striker.

The Hammers have been struggling for goals this season, and they have been scouring the market for a new number nine.

West Ham have been linked with a number of centre-forwards recently with Brian Brobbey linked to West Ham and Evan Ferguson touted as a West Ham target too.

Speaking on Market Madness, Dean Jones has shared an update on West Ham’s search for a striker, and he’s named three potential number nine options for the east London club including one link that should be taken seriously.

Jones shared what he knows about West Ham’s links to new strikers.

According to the journalist, Taiwo Awoniyi, Andre Silva and Evan Ferguson are all potential options, while the links to Silva should be taken particularly seriously.

“We know that the Nottingham Forest striker, Awoniyi is one they’re looking at, but that seems like a really difficult deal to do, they’re struggling to get that one through,” Jones said.

“What we know about West Ham, time and time again, is that they will cast the net wide, and then they will see which deal works out best for them.

“Evan Ferguson keeps coming on the radar, maybe that one crops back up, Andre Silva keeps getting mooted as a potential target, he’s available and that’s why we should take that one seriously,”

West Ham are looking at three potential striker options here, but, to be honest, all three players are rather unremarkable statistically.

Indeed, all three of these players have just three league goals between them this term.

Overall, that is a shocking return for a trio of number nines whose primary job is to put the ball into the back of the net.

All three players are out of form at the moment, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re busted flushes.

Indeed, Evan Ferguson was highly rated at one point, and even Arsenal have been linked with Ferguson in this transfer window.

Meanwhile, Andre Silva was hot property at one point, even if his move to RB Leipzig hasn’t gone to plan.

As for Taiwo Awoniyi, he’s proven in the past that he can score goals at this level, but with Chris Wood in such good form, he’s being overshadowed at Nottingham Forest right now.

It remains to be seen who West Ham sign this month, but these three players do make for intriguing, if somewhat underwhelming, options.
