Anderson impressed in flashes in 2018/19 but still left a lot to be desired in the eyes of some Hammers supporters.

In total he made 40 appearances in his debut season and contributed to 10 goals (nine goals, one assist).

The £41.5 million signing () is considered one of the best players outside the top six, and was linked with another surprise move to Real Madrid earlier this year ().

TBR’s view

Despite Anderson’s obvious flair, the fact that both Real Madrid and Liverpool have reportedly shown an interest in him is somewhat surprising.

Considering the outlay it took to sign him, Anderson’s 10 goal involvements are nothing too special.

That said, although inconsistent he has generally been above average in his first season in English football, but will surely need to step things up next term if he is to justify the European superpowers’ current interest in him – assuming, of course, he doesn’t actually leave the club for one of those sides this summer.

The 26-year-old – who earns £85,000-a-week – has a feel for the nature of the Premier League now, and he has every chance of showing the potential to become a Liverpool or Real Madrid-quality player.
