West Ham: £15million deal to be confirmed; Southampton defender wanted; Manchester City man targeted

The  report that the Hammers could turn things around and finally enjoy some success in the transfer market with a £15 million deal set to be confirmed for Brentford striker Scott Hogan in the coming days after the two clubs agreed a fee. Negotiations had been ongoing after three bids were turned down, with add-ons causing complications despite agreement on a £9 million up-front fee.

A striker from the Championship may not be the most exciting for fans but the 24-year-old has been prolific with 14 goals in 25 league games this season, so may finally bring some form to the club’s attack.

However, Slaven Bilic is said to be keen to add some experience too, with the  reporting that Southampton’s unhappy captain Jose Fonte is attracting attention from the London Stadium. The central defender has submitted a transfer request at St. Mary’s and is expected to leave this month.

Having won Euro 2016 with Portugal in the summer, Fonte would bring a wealth of experience to the West Ham defence but also proven Premier League quality, something which is desperately lacking in Bilic’s squad, particularly with a number of injuries to key players.

Part of this rejuvenation of the squad could involve the axing of goalkeeper Adrian, who the say will be replaced by England number one Joe Hart. A £15 million fee and £100,000 per week wage has been set aside for a move for the Manchester City man in the summer when he returns from a loan spell at Torino in Serie A.

Spanish goalkeeper Adrian will most likely be allowed to leave, with any reasonable offers accepted and his contract set to expire in the summer. The club possess an option to extend his contract by a further two years but are unlikely to take up that option.
