West Brom sign Kenneth Zohore soon after Rondon departure
from Cardiff City. The 25-year-old Dane has been made the Baggies’ new No. 9. This announcement came just after the club’s previous No. 9, Salomon Rondon, .
On paper, Zohore is a like for like replacement for Rondon. Both are powerful forwards who operate as target men and use their physically to hold up possession in the final third. However, Zohore is a less convincing talent that Rondon.

Both Rondon and Zohore plied their trade in the Premier League last season. The Venezuelan spent the season on loan at Newcastle United, and impressed as a key figure in Rafa Benitez’s team. Zohore, meanwhile, struggled to lead the line effectively for Cardiff City. He ended the season with just one goal and one assist to his name in 19 top flight appearances.
Zohore certainly has the potential to improve, and has shown some real quality at Championship level before. He was an important part of the Bluebird’s ascent to the Premier League. However, Slaven Bilic will want to see the 6’2” striker take great strides forward in his game this season.
Certainly, if he is to truly succeed and shine at the Hawthorns, Zohore must become a more consistent and prolific forward. Otherwise, he may find himself unable to escape Rondon’s shadow.
