West Brom set Aston Villa £24m asking price for Sam Allardyce favourite Matheus Pereira

According to , West Bromwich Albion have set Aston Villa a £24million asking price for t﷽he summer transfer of Sam Allardyce favourite Matheus Per♈eira.

The attacking midfielder has been on🌃e of the standout talents of the Baggies’ first season back in the Premier League, and is likely to retain top-flight interest should the Hawthorns natives succumb to relegation.

Dean Smith’s Villans are among the known admirers of the 25-year-old, who West Brom signed𒈔 permanently from Sporting Lisbon for £8m last summer following a successful spell on ⛎loan in the Championship.

Pereira helped the West Midlands outfit to secure their promotion during the 2019/20 term with in 42 appearances𒀰, and has continued to display his creativity this season with in 30 outings to date.

West Brom꧂ are expected to demand no less than three times the fee paid to the Brazilian’s former side in order to sell him this summer, despite the diไstinct possibility of an immediate return to the second-tier.

Reports by last month note𝓀d that other Premier League clubs are also monitoring Pereira’s situation, wh﷽ile the same publication in January that the Belo Horizonte-born playmaker had grown frustrated at not being offered a more lucrative contract.

TBR’s view:

It remains to be seen if Aston Vi🌸lla or any of the rival Premier League suitors prove willing to step up their interest in Pereira this summer, given West Brom are setting the market at a high staཧndard before holding any negotiations.

But ♕the Baggies are right to value their £6,000-per-week () midfielder highly, as he has taken to the Premier League well and for January’s Pla🃏yer of the Month award after causing problems for West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Allardyce has also waxed lyrical over Pereira’s potential, claiming in April how the Brazilian has the ability to become a top-class Premier League p🐟layer, if not world-class, which only goes to further justify why West Brom feel comfortable laying their marker wꦏhere it is.

“I have worked with some world-class players in my time,” Allardyce said, via quotes by the . “I can’t say Matheus is world-class, but he certainly 𒐪has the potential to be a top-class Premier League player if he continues developing.”
