Wesley Moraes – Arsenal’s reported Danny Welbeck replacement – ends five-game goal drought
Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck is out of contract at the end of the season and likely to leave.
He has been out with an ankle injury for most of the season and this has limited his chances of earning a new deal.
, Arsenal have lined up Club Brugge striker Wesley Moraes as Welbeck’s replacement.
Wesley has had a mixed season in the Jupiler League – which is Belgium’s top division. He has gone through patches of impressive form but also struggled at times.
And on Monday night, the Brazilian forward scored his first goal in six matches to end a disappointing goal drought.

That took his tally to 14 goals for the season, with a further nine assists to his name. This is not a bad tally but it is a big step up from the Belgian top-flight to the Premier League.
Earlier in the season, Wesley’s goal in late January ended his goal drought which dated back to early November.
The 22-year-old is still young and has a decent goalscoring rate of 14 goals in 39 games but he needs to add consistency to his game if he joins Arsenal.
Wesley has boosted the Gunners’ hopes of landing him by he wants a move to England.
And Arsenal fans will be hoping he can fill the void left by the imminent departure of Welbeck.
