‘Weak link’… £32m Tottenham player had an absolute nightmare whilst out on loan last night

It’s clear that Tottenham Hotspur have been keen to make the most of the loan market this season, seeking moves for several players.

Ange Postecoglou sanctioned the departure of both Ashley Phillips and Alfie Devine to Plymouth Argyle in January, hoping they can gain first team experience.

Alejo Veliz was also sent on loan to Sevilla last month, proving Spurs are being very diligent seeking opportunities.

And as well as some of the young players mentioned, Tottenham do also have some senior figures playing their football elsewhere as well, with Spurs presumably hoping to increase their sell-on value.

Tanguy Ndombele is at Galatasaray this season, Joe Rodon at Leeds United, and Sergio Reguilon at Brentford – just to mention a few.

Ange Postecoglou will surely be hoping to make a ton of progress with his squad building in the summer, and those names mentioned could raise some important funds.

That being said, perhaps Sergio Reguilon’s blossoming reputation at Brentford took something of a blow at West Ham United last night.

The on-loan Tottenham defender has started the second half of the season well with his new club, but had a torrid time yesterday evening.

On loan Tottenham man Sergio Reguilon endures nightmare evening amid difficult season

Reguilon, who spent the first half of the season on loan at Manchester United, has been performing well at Brentford, helping to forget his difficult six months under Erik ten Hag.

However, the Spaniard, who Spurs bought for back in 2020, struggled against West Ham’s attackers.

And following the game, were pretty damning in their assessment of his 73 minutes.

Reguilon was handed a three out of 10 for his match rating, and the outlet said he proved something of a liability.

It read: “A bit of a weak link tonight. West Ham had a lot of joy down the right.

“He did some nice work going forwards but cut a frustrated figure and had to be cautioned by teammates as he ran a fine line with dissent at times.”

Of course, both Tottenham and Brentford fans will hope the on loan defender will soon bounce back, he certainly has the quality.

And in truth, it was just a difficult evening for Thomas Frank’s side as a whole.

All that being said, it seems as if Tottenham may be close to finding a new striker for next season.
