‘We looked at each other’: Ben Davies shares what Harry Kane did right before Tottenham equalised yesterday

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has been speaking to and has shared what Harry Kane did right before they equalised yesterday.

Spurs put in another lacklustre first-half display against Bournemouth yesterday and went into half-time 1-0 down after a Kieffer Moore goal.

The Cherries striker piled more misery on Antonio Conte’s side at the beginning of the second-half as he put Gary O’Neil’s men two goals to the good.

But Spurs fought back and grabbed a goal back through Ryan Sessegnon just before the hour mark. Davies eventually levelled the scoring in the 73rd minute as he headed home Ivan Perisic’s delivery from a corner.

Now, the Welshman has revealed that he and Kane decided to swap positions right before he scored Tottenham’s equaliser.

“It was one of them, I’d been running the front-post a lot and no joy. So I thought about changing it up and I was in the right place at the right time,” .

“Harry usually does that one but we looked at each other to change positions for that one and one fell on my head. Yeah, I was in the right place at the right time.”

Spurs have been a real threat from set-pieces this season and Kane has had success from arriving at the back post.

The England striker scored from a similar situation last week against Newcastle but clearly decided that Spurs needed to switch it up yesterday.

It paid off for Davies, who rose above Jordan Zemura to get Spurs back on level terms.

Conte’s men found a winner in stoppage time and it came from another corner. Rodrigo Bentancur latched onto a loose ball in the area and guided it into the Bournemouth goal.

It was a much-needed win for Spurs on the south coast yesterday after suffering successive Premier League defeats last week.

They now face a massive game in Marseille on Tuesday and need a result to qualify for the last-16 of the Champions League. Conte will be hoping yesterday’s comeback win will lift the squad’s confidence ahead of the clash.
