‘We have just spoken’: Aaron Cresswell shares what West Ham players were saying in the dressing room at full-time

West Ham United manager David Moyes continued his winless record away at Old Trafford yesterday.

The Hammers fell to a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, with Lukasz Fabianski unable to keep out a bullet header from Marcus Rashford.

West Ham were on top for the final 20 minutes, but couldn’t find a way past David De Gea.

The Spanish goalkeeper was forced into a number of great saves to maintain his side’s slender lead.

Jarrod Bowen squandered a great chance in the box, before De Gea denied Declan Rice at full stretch in added time.

It’s West Ham’s fourth away defeat in the league this season, and although they started the game slowly, their late dominance makes it a difficult result to take.

Cresswell has shared what the West Ham players were saying at full-time in the dressing room.

The left-back was clearly frustrated that his teammates couldn’t find the back of the net.

It’s another away match that the Hammers will have thought they could have got something from this season that has ended in defeat.

Cresswell shares what West Ham players said at full-time

“On another day [those efforts] go in. He [De Gea] has made three or four great saves.

“We have just spoken inside the dressing room – it feels like the worst-case scenario because we should have got something.

“We went to Anfield and felt like we dominated in spells and they are times you have to take your chances.

“We didn’t take them at Liverpool and that has been the case again today.

“It is down to us to put the ball in the net, and we have not done that.”

There were still positives to take from the game yesterday for the Hammers.

Ian Wright was impressed with the impact Michail Antonio made off the bench.

Antonio came on for Scamacca with the Italian already on a booking and having just made a high challenge on Lisandro Martinez.

Gary Neville wasn’t impressed with Scamacca’s challenge on Rashford that originally earned him a booking.

The Hammers now have a Europa Conference League game against FCSB to concentrate on in midweek.

The match is irrelevant to their progression having already topped the group.

Cresswell will be hoping to avoid a repeat of what the West Ham players were saying at full-time in the dressing room yesterday.

It’s likely going to be a great opportunity for Moyes to completely rotate his starting line-up.
