‘We could make a few quid’: Some West Ham fans react as ‘top class operator’ shines for country
Some West Ham United fans have been reacting on social media after Andriy Yarmolenko scored for Ukraine in their Euro 2020 defeat to the Netherlands on Sunday.
The Irons forward captained Ukraine at the Amsterdam Arena as Andriy Shevchenko’s side began their European Championship. Yarmolenko had in qualifying after overcoming an , and scored once while offering one assist.
Goals from Georginio Wijnaldum and Wout Weghorst gave Holland the lead early in the second half. But Yarmolenko pulled one back with a quarter of an hour remaining in magnificent style, cutting in onto his left foot to find the top corner with a dipping finish.
And four minutes later, Ukraine were level through a Roman Yaremchuk header. But Denzel Dumfries had the final say in the 85th-minute when he restored the Netherlands’ advantage to seal the win.

Yarmolenko’s goal comes after West Ham put the 31-year-old up for sale. The claim he is one of the fringe players – including Felipe Anderson – who are likely to be sold. also note Galatasaray are keen on the international.
Yarmolenko is the top target to replace Sofiane Feghouli at Galatasaray. West Ham want to move their top-earner on this summer as he enters the final year of his contract. However, his agent, Vadim Shabliy, has poured cold on a move to Russia.
