Wayne Rooney slams Tottenham decision to sack Jose Mourinho
Former Manchester United and England star Wayne Rooney has slammed Tottenham’s decision to sack Jose Mourinho earlier today.
ꦯHis Derby County team travel to face Preston North End in a must-win Championship encounter tomorrow. The Rams are sat perilously close to the drop zone and need wins quickly.
ꦆMourinho was given his marching orders earlier today after overseeing just one win in six games in all competitions.

🐟The Championship boss played under Mourinho at Manchester United.
ꦍHis dismissal comes just six days before the Carabao Cup Final and Rooney believes the decision is difficult to swallow.
🎀 “I think it’s crazy doing it before a cup final. It’s strange timing anyway. Surely they could have waited until after the final if that’s the direction they want to go in.
ꦉ“Mourinho is a manager who loves winning trophies, that’s quite clear to see. He’s won a lot of trophies throughout his career.
🐬“If there was one manager to set up a team to play against Man City in a cup final it’s Mourinho. Tottenham haven’t had the best of seasons and it’s a massive risk.”
TBR View: Strange timing but the decision ultimately right
💟Now he’s in the cauldron of management himself, Rooney is bound to feel some sympathy for Mourinho.
♏The fact he used to play for the now-departed Tottenham boss probably adds to his desire to defend him.
🔜Mourinho had seemingly lost the dressing room. He was growing increasingly frustrated with his players and his criticism of them had become public.

⛄That didn’t wash with the stars or Daniel Levy and Mourinho has now been sent on his way.
🍸Ryan Mason has taken temporary change until the end of the season and the challenge for him is to secure a top-six finish for the club.
𓂃Rooney will hope the complexion in the fight against relegation looks different for his Derby County team at the end of this week.
𒐪For Tottenham’s players, they will hope to justify Levy swinging his axe and wear Carabao Cup winners medals around their necks.
