Watford fans react to apology from influential player after Arsenal howler
Watford couldn’t continue their good form of late last night as they slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. The only goal of the game came courtesy of a Ben Foster error which allowed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to net the winner.
The Gabonese player was alert to a pass back directed to the Watford stopper. In closing him down he managed to block the ball into Foster’s gaping net.
The Hornets’ misery was compounded just moments later when Troy Deeney saw red for an altercation with Lucas Torreira.

Javi Gracia’s men remain in tenth in the Premier League but are a point off Leicester in seventh. Reaching the cup final and still being in contention for a European place with five games to play represents solid progress.
Foster’s misfortune was just one of those things. Usually Watford’s most reliable performer he was in good spirits after the game. He owned up to his error and will move on.
After the contest, he took to Twitter to share his frustrations with the Watford faithful. The loyal Hornets supporters weren’t in the mood to criticise one of their most consistent performers and backed their goalkeeper to bounce back.
We rounded up the best tweets in reaction to Foster’s apologetic tweet.
Mistakes happen, still made some big saves tonight that kept us in it. We move onto the next one

Been one of the top, most consistent players this season (and what a season it’s been). Just shows you’re human. Top professional. Onto the next! 💪🏼🐝

Tough lucky for today, well played though. Some amazing saves out there !

You have saved us so many times! We should have taken our chances as Arsenal were poor and we were dominating. The performance shows how far we’ve come as a team as we still held our own with our 10 men in comparison to their 12.

Ben, you owe us nothing. You are so far in credit, tonight will soon be forgotten. What a great team effort though! 💛
