Watford are willing to let Troy Deeney go and he’d be ideal Tottenham alternative to Diego Costa – TBR View
Tottenham are today being with a move for Diego Costa but if they miss out on the former Chelsea man, Jose Mourinho will still be keen to bring another striker in.
Spurs have become heavily reliant on Harry Kane in recent seasons. They need someone who can come into the fold and is happy to play second-fiddle to Kane, something which can be problematic when it comes to the market.

And while Costa might be happy to come and play for Jose Mourinho once again, there is every chance a deal doesn’t go ahead.
Spurs, then, will need to target someone else and Watford striker, Troy Deeney, could well be the man they need to move for.
According to the , Watford could be willing to part ways with their skipper, with West Brom the team mentioned in that particular report as being linked.
But if Jose Mourinho cannot get a deal over the line for Costa, then Deeney could well be the ideal back-up option.
Strong, powerful, and a nuisance, Mourinho would love Deeney
The Watford man is into his 30s now and probably won’t get the chance at a move to one of the so-called ‘Big Boys’. However, Spurs could give him the chance to show his talents.
Obviously, he’d need to accept that he’d be behind Harry Kane but with his age, experience, and knowledge of the game at Premier League level, it might be a role he’s willing to accept.

Deeney has scored 47 Premier League goals over his career, an impressive enough stat without ever being prolific.
Like Costa, Deeney prides himself on making life tough for defenders. He’s all hustle and bustle, is powerful, and refuses to back down to the challenge any defender might lay down in front of him.
So, while Costa might be the ideal for Mourinho, Deeney is a man who should be on the Spurs radar.
