‘Wasn’t expecting that’, ‘different level’: Some fans react as ‘top, top’ West Ham player joins on loan
West Ham United defender Winston Reid will continue to ply his trade away from the London Stadium this season.
The Hammers veteran has joined Championship side Brentford for the remainder of the campaign.
Reid spent the first half of the season on loan with MLS side Sporting Kansas City after recovering from a serious knee injury sustained in March 2018.

He has made 222 appearances for West Ham since joining the Irons in 2010, and has etched his name into the club’s folklore thanks to his service and some top moments.
In 2016, Reid scored a late winner as West Ham’s 112-year stay at Upton Park came to an end with a pulsating victory over Manchester United, and there have also been goals against Millwall.
With the Hammers well covered in the centre-back department, the New Zealand international has opted to bolster the Bees’ bid for promotion from the Championship.
Brentford sit third in the table, two points behind Swansea City in the second automatic promotion place and six behind leaders Norwich, with a game in hand on both.
Here is what some fans of both sides have been saying on social media about Reid’s switch:
