‘Was brilliant’: Micah Richards blown away by 25-year-old Leeds player despite loss; also lauds teammate

Micah Richards that he thought that both Jack Harrison and Daniel James were brilliant as Leeds United suffered defeat at Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side came away from North London empty-handed after a bizarre clash that involved both sides dominating one half of the game.

Leeds had their time particularly before the break. The visitors played some stunning football and it seemed that Antonio Conte’s men were unable to live with the Whites.

And they got their rewards shortly before the interval. Harrison did superbly down the left wing to beat Emerson Royal. He then found James with a delicious cross. And the Wales international made the most of the chance to put Leeds in front.

Unfortunately, Bielsa’s men were unable to maintain that level of dominance after the break.

But Richards suggested that the two wide-men were amongst those who could hold their head up high as he discussed the opening goal.

“Harrison, I thought was brilliant today along with James down them wings,” . “A little nutmeg here, but it’s the composure as well to finish it. Great run from James. And that embodied what Leeds were trying to do.”

Leeds will hope goal is a sign of what is to come as Harrison and James both break ducks

Ultimately, it was a disappointing day for Leeds. But in some ways, it was the encouraging signs that made the result so difficult to take.

Both Harrison and James broke ducks in the game. James scored his first goal for his new club following his summer switch from Manchester United.

Harrison meanwhile, registered his first assist of the campaign. Prior to the two previous games, he had not looked the same player that was devastating last season.

That will have therefore, been an important moment for both players. And Leeds will hope that it is a sign of what is to come.
