‘Wary’… BBC reporter said the Lazio defenders were scared of ‘wonderful’ Celtic player’s attacking threat
All the talk today was about who Brendan Rodgers would start for Celtic in tonight’s Champions League fixture against Lazio in Rome.
TBR Celtic argued the case for 32-year-old winger, James Forrest, to start and we also had him in our Predicted XI to face the Serie A club.
And as it happened, Rodgers saw fit to put Forrest in his starting lineup and it’s fair to say, for the hour he was on the park, he did okay.
With most of Celtic’s attacking going down the left-hand flank, BBC reporter, Richard Winton, said he saw the Lazio defence looking nervous whenever the former Scotland man was on the ball.
Winton said [], “James Forrest seems to have been playing in these big European games for Celtic since the beginning of time, but he still looks like his side’s most potent attacking threat here.
“Sure, the 32-year-old might creak and groan a little more than he used to, but defenders are still wary of his directness.”
They may well have been ‘wary’ but ultimately Forrest’s effort was for nothing as Celtic eventually lost and crashed out of Europe.
James Forrest continues to have a role at Celtic
The ‘wonderful‘ legendary winger played fairly well for Celtic tonight as he used all of his Champions League experience to try and cause Lazio problems.

And although he didn’t manage to penetrate the Italian’s defence, he did try to make the most of the limited service he got in the first half.
Whilst it wasn’t Forrest’s best-attacking display, he did put in a shift to keep Celtic in the game but ultimately it wasn’t enough as he was hooked on the hour mark and replaced by Mikey Johnston.
With European football all over for Celtic, Brendan Rodgers must look back at the Parkhead loss against the Italians, kick himself at that and wonder, what if?
