Virgil van Dijk is proof James Forrest could be a Liverpool success
Liverpool have been linked with a move for Celtic winger James Forrest over the weekend. that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on the Bhoys star. An £8 million bid has been mentioned, however, Celtic will not even consider such a low fee.
But that does not mean Liverpool should give up.
Forrest has been brilliant for Celtic over the past few seasons. This term has been perhaps his best ever on an individual basis. He has scored 11 goals and provided 17 assists for the Bhoys this season. He has also scored five goals in four appearances for Scotland.

‘But he plays for Celtic’ will be the cry from detractors. He may be playing in a lesser league at present, but Liverpool only need to look at one of their current stars to show that starring for Celtic can be a precursor for Premier League success.
Virgil van Dijk was the star of the Celtic team when Southampton brought him south of the border in 2015. Last January, to bring him to Anfield where he is now, with all respect to the rest of the Premier League, the outstanding central defender in the division.
Forrest, a former team-mate of Liverpool’s imperious defender, could easily go on to have similar success in England.
In fact, if he proves half as good as Van Dijk, then Liverpool will be on to a winner.
