Video: Virgil van Dijk was absolutely furious with Liverpool 27-year-old against Villa
Liverpool cruised to a Boxing Day win over Aston Villa yesterday as they began the second half of the season in style at Vila Park.
Mo Salah got a goal and assist under his belt before young midfielder Stefan Bajetic rounded off the scoring to send the Liverpool fans home happy at Christmas.
Of course, winning was all that mattered for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp. The opening half to the season has been plagued by inconsistencies and injuries. However, Klopp did manage to see a few players return yesterday, one of which was Guinean midfielder, Naby Keita.

But while Keita’s return is a boost in terms of numbers, those watching on will have noticed a moment in the 70th minute that summed up his time at Liverpool. And Virgil van Dijk was far from impressed either.
Keita picked up a loose ball on the edge of the box in the 70th minute with the Reds building pressure. But rather than recycle the ball, cross it in, or get it wide, Keita instead took a woeful pot shot that flew into the stands.
And watching on the back post, Van Dijk was fuming. On the replays from the coverage on , Van Dijk can be seen throwing his hands up, turning his head in disgust, and shouting something we probably can’t repeat.
In a nutshell, it was a microcosm of Keita’s time at Liverpool in general. Frustrating.
TBR’s View: Keita should leave Liverpool
It’s just not going to to work, is it? Injury after injury and then disappointing performance after disappointing performance.
Sure, Keita did ok in bits yesterday but this particular shot summed up a lot of his Liverpool career really.
It was wasteful, rushed, and completely lacking any quality. Van Dijk’s face and reaction said a lot here. Yes, it’s only one minor moment of frustration. But it was clearly something that irked the Dutchman.
