Video: Arsenal’s latest transfer target produces an outrageous piece of skill in training
Arsenal are thought to be keen on signing Lisandro Martinez from Ajax this summer and Gunners fans will be delighted with one clip doing the rounds online.
Martinez has emerged as a target for Arsenal as they look to add quality to the ranks this summer. A centre-back is thought to feature on Mikel Arteta’s wanted listed, despite the partnership of Ben White and Gabriel looking solid enough.
Martinez is wanted for his ability to play along the backline, while his versatility has also seen him do well in a deep-lying midfield position as well. And that ability to play in midfielder – where composure and range of passing is needed – appeared to be on display in a clip from training on Twitter.
Shared by over the weekend, the clip shows Martinez producing a sublime piece of skill before flicking the ball with the outside of his foot across goal and guiding it – with spin – into the corner.
Of course, there’s no time stamp on the video and it’s unclear if this was done over the last few days or from another period in time. But what is clear is that Lisandro clearly has something in the locker.

While most professionals can probably have a good go at the part where the ball goes across and into the empty net, it’s the bit before from Martinez which is impressive.
To flick the ball up as he does and have so much control of a difficult skill move is a very impressive feat. It shows, if anything, that he has something in his locker that a lot of defenders probably don’t have.
If Arsenal can pull off a deal to sign Lisandro Martinez, you’d have to say they’ll have pulled off one of the signings of the summer.
