Victor Wanyama sends three-word reply to Serge Aurier’s Instagram after Spurs loss

Victor Wanyama was amongst those to send messages of encouragement to Serge Aurier following the right-back’s superb performance in Tottenham Hotspur’s clash with Liverpool on Wednesday.

Jose Mourinho’s men were knocked off top spot in the Premier League in agonising fashion at Anfield. Roberto Firmino’s late header settled the contest.

It would have been an incredibly tough result for Tottenham to take, particularly initially. Spurs had produced an outstanding defensive display to keep the home side at bay for much of the contest.

One of those who arguably produced a colossal performance was Aurier. The 27-year-old was incredibly disciplined throughout the contest.

And his display prompted plenty of Tottenham fans to take to social media to laud his contribution.

Remarkably, Aurier made 10 successful challenges during the game (via ). Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was second on that list with five. No other Spurs player managed more than two.

And his disappointment was clear as the defender posted on social media following the game…

Aurier has been a revelation this season. Fans would have been forgiven for expecting him to not be at the club at this stage with Matt Doherty arriving in the summer.

However, the Ivory Coast international has forced Mourinho to make him first-choice. And that is why many responded with messages of support.
