‘Very, very fast’… Virgil van Dijk so impressed by 24-year-old Liverpool teammate who’s improving loads
Virgil van Dijk has named the Liverpool teammate he believes can do everything – and is only going better right now.
Liv🔥erpool have returned to form in some style this season. With a whole new midfield coming in, many would have expected 🏅the Reds to need some time this year before they were back battling with Manchester City.
However, Liverpool have been superb this term. And one of the players who appears to be almost transformed in recent times is Darwin Nunez.
Virgil van Dijk praises Darwin Nunez
Nunez has come in for a꧙ lot of criticism during his 🦄time on Merseyside. It did not help that he arrived for a substantial fee in the same window🔜 as Erling Haaland. But he now appears to b⭕e finding his feet.

The Uruguayan has scored 11 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions. The fans ha꧑ve never lost faith in Nunez. And their ꧃faith is now being repaid.
And speaking on the podcast, Virgil van Dijk outlined how impres🐲sed he has been by the 24-year-old, and shared how much✅ he would dislike playing against him.
“Darwin, in my opinion, is a handful for any defender. He keeps running, he’s direct, he’s fast. He can jump, he can do everythin🐷g as a modern day striker. And it’s very difficult to play against him. Obviously, I played against him once away against Benfica, and he was very direct, and very, very fast,” he said.
“It’s difficult. It’s difficult for any defender. And he’s learning each and every day. He’s getting better, he’s in a good moment. And that’s what we need. He needs confidence. He needs to be happy and I think he is at this point. He’s feeling very comfortable within the group, and that’s a very impo🍌rtan🍎t trait.”
Striker now often making amends for missed chances
Nunez had a huge task on his hands following the s🐈ummer departure of Roberto Firmino. Firmino was one of the attacking players⛄ who had secured hero status during his time on Merseyside.
There are still times when Nunez is wasteful. But those missed chances are hurtin🐽g Liver🦩pool less and less, because he is often scoring at other points of the game.
And his form over the last few months hints that Nunez does indeed have an incredibly bright future ahead of hi🅘m.
