‘Very, very exciting’: Ian Wright reacts to Aaronson display in Leeds win

Ian Wright that Brenden Aaronson epitomises everything Leeds United is about and labelled the summer signing very, very exciting after his performance in their season-opener with Wolves.

Aaronson was the star of the show at Elland Road. Leeds won 2-1 against Bruno Lage’s men. And it was Aaronson who played a key role in the decisive goal.

The American was the player tasked with somewhat filling the void left by Raphinha – though in a slightly different role on the right of the attack.

And some of the touches he produced during the game certainly suggested that he is going to be an inspired signing for the Whites.

The 21-year-old was full of energy throughout. And he proved to be a real game-changer for Jesse Marsch’s side. Certainly, Wright suggested that he was hugely impressed with the youngster’s first showing for his new club.

“When you think of Leeds, you think of intensity, pace and all the things that with how they play, the energy. He’s everything, he encompasses everything that they’re about and I think he’s going to be one of these players the Leeds fans really take to really quickly,” .

“He’s so energised, so quick, so busy around people. It’s his pace, the quickness with the ball, look at him go. Fantastic pace he’s got. Very, very exciting.”

Those who did not watch Leeds in pre-season wondered how they would replace Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips. And the lack of Premier League experience amongst those who came in worried many pundits.

Of course, Leeds will not be getting carried away. There is a long way to go. And Wolves hardly had the most impressive summer.

But four of their new signings did well against Lage’s side. And Aaronson was absolutely the pick of the bunch.
