‘Very sharp, very fast’: Joe Gelhardt stunned by 18-year-old Leeds talent in training

Leeds United forward Joe Gelhardt has praised new Elland Road signing Wilfried Gnonto on .

The Italy international joined the Whites on transfer deadline day from FC Zurich.

Leeds got a deal for Gnonto over the line late on, following failed moves for Bamba Dieng and Cody Gakpo.

The 18-year-old is yet to feature for Jesse Marsch’s side, but has been impressing in training.

Gelhardt was asked about Gnonto in the BBC Radio Leeds interview with Adam Pope.

And the 20-year-old gave an insight into the new signing’s time at Elland Road so far.

“He’s trained the last two days,” Gelhardt replied.

“Very sharp, very fast. He’s lively. He’ll play anywhere across the front four.

“He’s a lovely lad and I’m sure he’ll do very well for us.”

A very promising verdict from Gelhardt, and it’ll be exciting to see how Gnonto fares for Leeds.

The Elland Road outfit has recently struggled in terms of strength in depth up front.

Therefore, Gnonto ticks a lot of boxes for Marsch.

Already a full , the teenager can play in a variety of central and wide attacking roles.

Gnonto has made 74 appearances for Zurich, registering 12 goals and 10 assists.
