‘Very excited’… Tottenham think their £2m youngster could become an absolute star – journalist

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the best teams in the world when it comes to picking up young players and developing them.

From Gareth Bale to Kyle Walker, some of the best players in world football over the past few years got their big breaks at Tottenham.

Spurs’ current youth sides are packed full of talent, and while many of them are Tottenham academy products, some are newer signings.

Speaking on , Tom Barclay has been discussing Spurs’ young stars, and he says that there is a lot of excitement around Will Lankshear right now, claiming that the £2m striker is someone that people within Spurs think very highly of.

Tottenham really rate Lankshear

Barclay spoke about the youngster.

“Within the academy there’s young Will Lankshear, he has 11 goals in 11 games in those PL2 games. He was signed 18 months ago from Sheffield United for £2m and that’s not nothing at that age. He actually started life at Arsenal, but despite that, he’s someone they’re very excited about,” Barclay said.

The new Harry Kane?

We probably shouldn’t be making this comparison at such an early juncture, but you can’t help but draw comparisons to Harry Kane here.

Starting at Arsenal before going on to start at Spurs is a well-trodden path, and Spurs will hope that they’ve found another superstar former Gunner after helping Kane become arguably the best striker in the world.

Of course, it’s incredibly early to be saying this sort of thing about Lankshear, but the fact that he was on Arsenal’s books at one point does, inevitably, play into the Kane comparisons.

Whether or not Lankshear becomes a first-team star at Spurs remains to be seen, but, by the sounds of it, this young man is a very exciting player.
