‘Very consistent’: Roberto Carlos wowed by 21-year-old Arsenal talent ahead of Tottenham clash
Roberto Carlos has given his verdict on Arsenal Brazilian attacking duo Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli ahead of the North London derby.
The Selecao legend – along with Gilberto Silva – was speaking to about the two Arsenal forwards in the context of the Brazil national team.
Qatar 2022 is not far away, and the Gunners will likely have quite a few of their players representing their countries at the tournament.

However, that’s not until next month. For now, there’s a lot of Premier League (and European competition) football to get through.
Arsenal return to Premier League action in Saturday’s early kickoff with a North London derby at the Emirates Stadium.
Jesus, 25, and Martinelli, 21, will likely start for Arsenal against their bitter rivals.
And both will hope to add to their impressive tallies so far this season.
The Gunners summer signing has four goals and three assists from eight outings.
Meanwhile. his compatriot has three goals from eight appearances.
‘Top, top attackers’
However, neither Jesus nor Martinelli – nor Gabriel Magalhaes – featured for Brazil during the latest international break.
While this was good for Arsenal insofar as they didn’t risk injuries or fatigue on international duty, it’s never nice for top players to be snubbed by their country.
That’s not to say the Gunners’ Brazilian contingent won’t be going to the World Cup, however.
Tite was likely looking at alternative options in the Selecao squad ahead of making his mind up over his Qatar 2022 squad.
And Roberto Carlos, speaking to The Mirror at the premiere of documentary ‘Brazil 2002: The Real Story’, gave his verdict on Martinelli and Jesus.

“I’m happy to see Gabriel Jesus playing at Arsenal and playing really, really well,” he said. “Martinelli is very consistent, as well.
“Brazil is being very well represented. We’ve got four or five strikers at the top level.
“Jesus, Vinicius, Neymar [and then midfielders] Fred, Casemiro. We’ve got top, top attackers.”
Fingers crossed for Arsenal’s Brazilian contingent – TBR View
Jesus, Martinelli and Magalhaes not making the Brazil squad last month was a double-edged sword for Arsenal.
While all three will be a lot fresher now, you’d hope they won’t feel too down about missing out.
Obviously the team selection for the World Cup is the big one.
And you’d think all three have done more than enough to warrant a spot in Tite’s squad.
Fingers crossed they all get in and get the chance to bring World Cup number 6 to Brazil.
