‘Verbal agreement’: £85k-a-week Tottenham player has now agreed a January move abroad

Tottenham defender Eric Dier could be on his way to Bayern Munich after coming to a verbal agreement over a transfer.

Dier is well out of favour at Tottenham at the moment and has struggled for minutes even in the midst of a dire injury crisis.

The £4m signing has had a long career with Spurs but it looks to be coming to an end now.

However, Dier could be in for a surprise reprieve and has apparently agreed a move to Bayern Munich.

Eric Dier agrees deal with Bayern Munich

According to , Dier has agreed a verbal deal with Bayern.

Indeed, there is even talk about a permanent deal being done to take the Tottenham man over to Germany.

For Dier, it could be quite the transfer given his demise at Tottenham. Bayern remain Germany’s biggest club and could now offer him the biggest of lifelines in his career.

Plettenberg notes in his post that Bayern haven’t fully committed to the deal just yet. They have other options. But Dier, as it stands, is one of them.

Dier to Bayern is hugely fortunate

Every so often, a transfer comes along that simply blows you away. But for all the wrong reasons.

Quite what Eric Dier has done recently to warrant a move to Bayern is beyond us. Sure, he’s had a fine career overall with Spurs and England but in the main, he’s never looked at the class level a club like Bayern normally goes.

The biggest draw for Bayern signing Dier is he’s available on a free or in this window, for pretty much nothing.

For Tottenham and Ange Postecoglou, it’s clear they want Dier and his off the books.

His struggles for game-time even with the current injury issues tells you all you need to know about how the Spurs coaching staff view him at the moment.

Of course, for Dier, it’s a huge move and who could begrudge him such a big deal.

But for Bayern, there are question marks galore.
