Report: Club want to take Tottenham ‘superstar’ on 12-month deal this summer

It’s pretty safe to say things haven’t gone too swimmingly for Bryan Gil since he signed for Tottenham, and he’s already been shipped out on loan to Valencia.

The young Spaniard didn’t seem to adapt very well to life in England, although the change in manager probably hasn’t helped Gil settle in London as he’d have liked. Valencia are the team who’ve taken Gil off Spurs’ hands, and so far, it’s gone pretty well back in La Liga for the Tottenham man.

In fact, it’s already going so well that reports are now claiming that Valencia want to do another deal with Spurs to take Gil in the summer. reports how Valencia are impressed with Gil’s impact. So much so, that they want Tottenham to agree to another 12-month loan deal when this current six-month spell ends.

Spurs paid just over to bring Gil in from Sevilla last summer, with Erik Lamela going the other way.

TBR’s View: Bryan Gil Loans Could Actually Work

A lot depends here what happens in the coming months. It will also depend if Antonio Conte sees Bryan Gil as a player he can use next season. If he doesn’t, then it doesn’t matter how well he does in Spain really.

Sending Gil on this initial loan was a smart move. He’d lost his way and needed to play, and he’s started well with Valencia, who are a big club in their own right as we know.

A longer, 12-month loan, though, is a bit riskier. And to say Spurs paid big money for Gil, it would almost suggest they’ve given up on him. Certainly, the club has a big decision to make on the Spanish youngster, who Graham Roberts a ‘little superstar’ not so long ago.
