Rangers supporters are unimpressed with UEFA’s decision to hand Kemar Roofe a four-match ban.
The striker was given a straight red card after his studs made contact with Slavia Prague keeper Ondřej Kolář’s face in the 2-0 defeat at Ibrox in March.
Kolář was left with a fractured skull, and will be required to wear a made-to-measure head guard for the rest of his career.
Roofe is punished under Article 15 (1), which characterises the offence as assault.
As quoted by the , the decision of UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body reads: “To suspend Rangers FC player, Mr. Kemar Roofe, for four (4) UEFA club competition matches for which he would otherwise be eligible, for dangerously assaulting another player.”
The club, meanwhile, have been fined €9,000 (£7,800). That punishment comes for breaching Article 15 (4), in which five or more players are found to have been guilty of improper conduct.
Kolář, meanwhile, has criticised Roofe in an interview with Czech outlet iDNES.cv for failing to apologise.
Here’s what some of the Rangers fans had to say regarding UEFA’s decision.

"Dangerously assaulting" suggests intention to hurt the player and criminality. Utterly ridiculous decision by UEFA and shocking choice of language.

Oh well. Looks like Harry Kane will need to play in the qualifiers then😇😉

It was a shocker, no intention btw, but the connection was horrible.
