Unsung hero Pablo Fornals has been key to West Ham’s flying start

Everyone at West Ham has impressed so far this season.

The two players who have really been grabbing headlines are Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma.

However, there have been many other stars at the club who have shone as West Ham have started unbeaten in the Premier League.

As the Hammers prepare for what will be a tough trip away to Southampton, Pablo Fornals will once again be key to the Irons’ chances.

The incredibly talented Spaniard has been absolutely fantastic for West Ham.

Every game he’s played in so far for club and country this season has seen him either score a goal or register an assist.

Fornals’ two goals and one assist this season in the Premier League puts him well on track to better his numbers from last season.

Across 33 games in 2020/21, Fornals chipped in with five goals and four assists (), yet this time around he’s been on fire.

Over the summer Mark Noble described Fornals as someone who does ” an incredible job for the team” and it’s really hard to argue with that ().

The underlying numbers that the 25-year-old has been producing have been off the charts too.

With an exceptional 2 shots, 2.7 key passes, 1.3 tackles and 2 attempted dribbler per game, Fornals has proven to be a ferocious force both defensively and creatively ().

There’s no way that the Spaniard will be able to keep up his record of scoring or assisting in every game that he plays.

Yet there’s no reason why he can’t continue his run through at least this weekend against Southampton, especially off the back of a strong international break.
