‘Unfair’… Peter Grant says 25-year-old Celtic player is being harshly criticised this season
Celtic’s performances this season in the Scottish Premiership have been poor and have been criticised from many quarters this season.
As Brendan Rodgers toils to get the team performing to the levels that we saw against teams like Aberdeen and Rangers, the Celtic manager has much to ponder as the race for the title hots up.
As the criticism continues though, Peter Grant has shared how he believes one player in the Celtic team is being harshly criticised this season.
Grant said [], “That lets me know how important Greg Taylor has been. And I know he gets a lot of criticism, for the modern day that Ange wanted to play and Brendan playing with the fullbacks tucking in that little bit, Greg’s done remarkably well.
“Because it’s completely new for anybody playing that way if you have not done it before.
“But how important he is and the energy he gives to the other players in the runs he makes to create space for others.
“And he chips in with the odd goal as well. Whether you think is good enough in the long term and the answer to everything, I think he’s had a lot of unfair criticism.
“But I think it shows you how important it is to the team, not just in that position, but to the team completely.”
Greg Taylor has been excellent for Celtic over the past two seasons. Under Ange, the 25-year-old defender was imperious.

And whilst Taylor struggled to recapture the form under Rodgers that the fans enjoyed under Ange, there is little doubt that the Scotland fullback is still so important to Celtic.
Alexandro Bernabei has struggled to fill Taylor’s boots and whilst he performed fairly well against Hibs midweek, the Argentine brings nowhere near the quality that Taylor does to the Hoops team.
The 25-year-old is expected back into the Celtic team by next weekend after recovering from his most recent injury and the Hoops fans will hope that he can help Rodgers’ push towards the title for the 13 remaining games this season.
