‘Unbelievable’: Sky Sports pundit wowed by what £10m Newcastle player did in today’s game
Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope earned praise from Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd for his 49th-minute save at Brighton.
The Magpies played out a stalemate at the Amex Stadium, with the hosts having the better chances.
Newcastle actually had the ball in the net in the first half, but it was ruled out for a high boot from Callum Wilson.

However, the best chance of the opening 45 minutes fell to Solly March, with Kieran Trippier clearing his effort off the line.
Then, in the 49th minute, March whipped a cross in towards Adam Lallana, who headed towards the bottom corner from close range.
Pope scampered across to claw the ball away with one hand, a save that Boyd lauded on .
At the same time, the pundit thought Lallana could’ve done better to ensure the ball hit the back of the net.
“Nick Pope… it’s an unbelievable save but it really should be going into the back of the net,” said Boyd.
“Lallana heads it into the ground but Pope gets across. You’ve got to be scoring them.”
Pope then came to the Magpies’ rescue again not long afterwards to deny March from close range.
Brighton continued to plug away thereafter, but Eddie Howe’s charges held on for a share of the spoils.
Pope, who cost Newcastle just this summer, has two clean sheets from his first two Magpies games.
Newcastle have four points from their opening two Premier League games, having beaten Nottingham Forest 2-0 last week.
