‘Unbelievable’ Mikel Arteta target has been spotted walking into Arsenal’s training ground on deadline day

Arsenal could be about to complete their first signing of transfer deadline day.

The Gunners have been very busy on the final day of the transfer window, and they are hoping to strengthen their squad before the deadline.

Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar are hard to work, and they have been linked with moves to sign a couple of players in the coming hours.

One of them has just been spotted at Arsenal’s training centre.

Neto has arrived at Arsenal’s training ground to finalise his move

Arsenal reached an agreement to sign Neto from Bournemouth late on Thursday night.

The Gunners have been in search of reinforcements in goal. Aaron Ramsdale has left the club, while Karl Hein has been loaned out.

Arteta ideally needs two goalkeepers before the 11:00 pm deadline, and it looks like he has managed to bring one of them through the door.

Bournemouth captain Neto is the chosen one after Arsenal failed in their pursuit of Joan Garcia, and that deal is on the verge of completion.

Sky Sports reporter Gary Cotterill, who is at Arsenal’s training centre, has revealed that he has spotted the ‘‘ Brazilian walking in to finalise his move.

He said live on (August 30, 3:42 pm): “Neto, the Bournemouth goalkeeper, we saw him go into the training ground.

“He is in here at the moment, he is having his pictures taken, he is having his medical, he is finalising the paperwork to come here on loan for a year to replace Aaron Ramsdale, who has gone to Southampton.”

Neto makes perfect sense for Arsenal

Garcia is definitely the more exciting option.

The Spaniard has been brilliant for Espanyol in La Liga, and he definitely has a bright future in the game. He is a terrific prospect and Arsenal were right to target him.

However, Garcia would cost a lot of money, and Arsenal had no time to negotiate a more affordable deal.

Neto, who is 35 and is coming in on a straight loan deal, is the perfect option for this season, and he is more than capable of doing a job for the Gunners.

In 2025, Arsenal could revisit a deal for Garcia.
