Unai Emery says Manchester United have a ‘very dangerous’ 28-year-old in their ranks

Aston Villa boss Unai Emery has described Manchester United defender Luke Shaw as a “very dangerous” player ahead of the Villans’ meeting with the Red Devils.

The Villa manager, speaking to the club’s ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash, also singled Diogo Dalot and Casemiro out as key players for Manchester United.

Shaw is one of the Red Devils’ best and most in-form players. However, he has struggled for injury this term, with just 13 club appearances in all competitions in 2023/24.

The 28-year-old completely transforms the Man United attack when he plays. Him and Marcus Rashford boast an incredible link-up connection on the left side.

With both expected to be available for the Red Devils in their trip to Villa, the hosts could have their work cut out as they seek to get back to winning ways.

“My concern and analysis of them is trying to understand their game plan and to understand their qualities, collectively and individually,” Emery said in Friday’s presser.

“We have to try to stop them, starting with the goalkeeper because his build up is fantastic.

“Their centre-backs like to play, building up and controlling ball possession, trying to get good combinations on the pitch.

“Luke Shaw is very dangerous and Diogo Dalot is in a good moment. Casemiro is a very important player for them; they have very good wingers and strikers and that is my concern.

“The most important thing for me, individually and collectively, as a coach is to prepare trying to stop them.”

Manchester United in good form ahead of trip to stumbling Aston Villa

Manchester United will fancy their chances against an Aston Villa outfit that has suffered a downturn in form in recent weeks.

Last weekend’s 5-0 win over relegation-threatened Sheffield United was only Villa’s second win in the Premier League since Christmas.

The Villans were also knocked out of the FA Cup in their fourth round replay against Chelsea in midweek, which was seen as a shock result.

Meanwhile, Manchester United are looking for a fourth consecutive win in all competitions for the first time this season, and are yet to lose in 2024.
