Unai Emery could make Reece Oxford work for Arsenal, just like Rob Holding
West Ham United defender Reece Oxford has emerged as a shock transfer possibility for Arsenal.
, the defender is willing to wait until the summer to move to the Gunners, rather than leave on loan in January for the Bundesliga again.
Borussia Monchengladbach are said to be the team wanting to sign him, after they took the player on loan last season.
Apparently the player would rather stay in England though.
West Ham, according to the report, would like in excess of £3 million for the player.
Holding improvement suggests Emery could work magic
Oxford to Arsenal is certainly a surprise transfer link.
The young defender, who made his debut back in 2015 aged just 16, has disappeared off the radar at West Ham.
There was huge hype over him when he burst onto the scene years ago but hesimply hasn’t developed in the way coaches at the club would have hoped.
If Arsenal are genuinely interested in him, then Unai Emery could make it work.
The Spaniard has already had a positive effect on Rob Holding, who was looking like a different player before his serious knee injury.
Holding’s game has become much more consistent, and Emery’s coaching could bring out the best in Englishman Oxford too.
Of course it would be a risky move, given his lack of involvement with the Hammers’ first-team in recent years, but a fee in the region of £3 million could be worth the punt.
