Tyrone Mings, Tammy Abraham and Wolves star react as player makes Aston Villa annoucement
Aston Villa confirmed on Monday that they had opted to complete the permanent signing of Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause, and the powerful centre-back posted on Instagram.
Villa spent £3million to land the 23-year-old beyond the end of last season, after he joined the club in the January transfer window and helped Dean Smith’s side reach the play-offs.
Hause played the first six matches of the 10-game winning run, before suffering an injury to his hip. He shone at centre-back and indeed on the left side of defence, during his 12 appearances for the Midlands side.
The former Wolves defender underlined his delight at signing for Villa this summer on Instagram, and Tammy Abraham, Tyrone Mings and Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White all reacted in the comments.
TBR’s view
Hause is a solid signing for Aston Villa, but Smith would be naive to think that his hunt for starting centre-backs has started. Indeed, Hause is a good player, but he should only be considered as a back-up.
The club have lost Mings and Axel Tuanzebe, while Tommy Elphick has joined Huddersfield. Smith needs to bring in more central defenders, with only James Chester and now Hause acting as options.
Mings must be signed permanently, and another centre-back that is considered good enough to start.
