Tyler Roberts says he’s “buzzing” for Leeds teammate Patrick Bamford after latest goal
Leeds United’s Tyler Roberts praised teammate Patrick Bamford after yesterday’s 2-0 away win against Southampton.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side picked up three points on the road in the Premier League to ensure that they will finish in the top half of the table this season.
Bamford netted his 16th goal of the season to take the lead against Southampton, while Roberts scored his first ever Premier League goal with a composed finish in stoppage time to spark emotional celebrations.
Whites star Bamford is now the joint-fifth highest goalscorer in the league this campaign, and has proven so many doubters wrong this year that he can perform on the top stage.
The 27-year-old has always been viewed as someone not quite good enough to replicate his Championship form in the Premier League.
However, Leeds attacker Roberts says that Bamford has always had the support of the entire dressing room at Elland Road, who have always known about his ability.
“A lot of people were surprised about it (Bamford’s form), but everybody in the Leeds team knew that he was capable of that,” Roberts said, as quoted by .
“We’re not surprised by the consistency, the performances and the goals that he’s had. Also, he’s got the assists as well. It’s been an amazing season for him, and I’m buzzing for him.”

TBR’s View:
If you had offered Bamford 16 goals and seven assists in the league before a ball was kicked this season, he would have snapped your hand off.
The English frontman has been unlucky not to get a call-up to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, but he’s given everything in attack this year at Elland Road.
It’s obvious how much Bamford’s game has improved under Bielsa. He’s almost unrecognisable in the way he now runs non-stop chasing defenders for 90 minutes, plus there is a real intelligence to the way he operates in the final third.
The internal support for Bamford at Leeds must be so crucial for his confidence.
