Tyler Roberts posts on Instagram after Leeds suffer defeat to Charlton

Leeds United attacker Tyler Roberts has posted on Instagram after finally recovering from a knee injury to feature for the first time this season – but it was bitter sweet as Leeds suffered defeat at The Valley to Charlton.

Lee Bowyer’s impressive side scored the only goal of the game to the delight of the Addicks support, as Macauley Bonne found the back of the net in the first half from a set piece. Roberts replaced Patrick Bamford in the 69th minute.

Roberts, 20, had failed to make an appearance for Leeds since the infamous 1-1 draw against Aston Villa in which the Wales international started the saga that saw Mateusz Klich score – by looking to kick the ball out, but instead playing on.

After having fluid drained from his knee, the £4million signing () made his 32nd Leeds appearance against Charlton but failed to make the difference as the Whites struggled to break down Bowyer’s resolute Charlton. He posted on Instagram.

TBR’s view – Is there a starting spot for Roberts at Leeds?

With the team hitting a bit of a sticky patch early on, there could well be a place for Roberts in the side. The fact that the former Walsall star can play up front, and in the middle of the park, suggests he has a better chance than most.

Bamford is struggling for confidence and goals, but Eddie Nketiah is likely to replace the former Chelsea striker if any changes are to be made. Roberts could also play in the number 10 role.

Mateusz Klich remains one of the first names on the team sheet but the Poland cap has done little this season. He will find Jamie Shackleton and Adam Forshaw as competition, but Roberts could be given a go in midfield.
