Two key passes, two tackles, 87.5% pass rate: Leeds star might have surprised Bielsa after Arsenal outing

Leeds United suffered Carabao Cup heartbreak on Tuesday night, losing to Arsenal 2-0 at The Emirates – but Cody Drameh was excellent on the right.

Drameh, 19, joined Leeds in 2020 from Fulham and has since played a huge 32 times for the club’s Under-23 side. But he was yet to make his debut.

However, that has now changed after he was thrown into the side to take on Arsenal at The Emirates. Luke Ayling continues to recover from injury.

The teenager came up against Gabriel Martinelli, and kept the young Brazilian quiet for much of the evening. A near-perfect debut from Drameh.

However, he was unable to prevent Leeds from losing 2-0 to the Gunners. But he did his chances no harm, in breaking into the senior side soon.

Drameh stats: Leeds star produces surprise display against Arsenal

WhoScored claim that Drameh was just as good going forward and in possession, as he was out of it. The Leeds star was brilliant at both ends.

Not only did he produce two key passes, but he also completed 42 of his 48 passes. Defensively, he managed two tackles and an interception.

With Ayling and Jamie Shackleton watching on, Drameh sparkled for Leeds. If it gives him a chance of Premier League football, remains to be seen.

But without a doubt, he surpassed expectation and Bielsa might have been somewhat surprised by his solid display at the back.
