How Twitter reacted to Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata joining Chelsea

Having been the subject of much speculation this summer, Real Madrid’s Alvaro Morata has finally completed a transfer away from the Spanish club after signing for Chelsea.

The Blues have reportedly spent £58 million on the former Juventus man, according to and they finally have a top-class striker to replace the exiled Diego Costa. That represents a club record fee, smashing the £50 million spent on Fernando Torres from Liverpool.

The Spaniard brings a similar play style to his compatriot, being agile and potent, however, not the most technical or speedy of players.

For a club-record fee, fans will be hoping Morata can fire Chelsea to another Premier League title and success in Europe. The striker joins Willy Cabellero and Tiemoue Bakayoko as the Blues’ new signings this summer, with more likely in the weeks to come.

Not only does his move break a record, it also sees him reunite with his former coach Antonio Conte. The pair spent time together at Juventus as the Italian side reached the Champions League final. Conte signed Morata but never actually coached him with the now Chelsea boss taking on the role of Italian national team coach only weeks later. During the rest of his two year spell in Turin, the Spaniard impressed and Blues fans will be hoping Morata can bring his form to the Premier League.

The Spanish striker, who was Madrid’s second highest goalscorer last season, will sign a five-year contract worth £150,000 per week, according to the .
