How Twitter reacted to Antonio Conte signing a new two-year contract with Chelsea

In what has been a very testing summer for Chelsea fans, they have finally been dealt some good news after manager Antonio Conte put pen to paper on a new two-year deal with the club.

The Italian, who has just completed his first year with Chelsea, led the club to the Premier League title and FA Cup Final in his maiden campaign.

After such successes, the club have rewarded his efforts with a new deal ahead of his second season.

The news delighted Conte, who told the official : “I am very happy to have signed a new contract with Chelsea. We worked extremely hard in our first year to achieve something amazing, which I am very proud of. Now we must work even harder to stay at the top.”

He added: “The Chelsea fans have given me so much support since I arrived here one year ago and it is important we continue to succeed together.”

While guiding the Blues to the Premier League title at the first attempt, the Italian also set a record being the first man to achieve 30 wins in a single season, as well as a club-record 13 consecutive league victories.

It wasn’t just the success he became noted for, though. His passion and tactical knowledge impressed many viewers over the course of the campaign. The change from a 4-2-3-1 to a 3-4-3 saw Chelsea rise up the table, with other clubs then trying to imitate Conte’s design.

As he pens a new deal, two compatriots join him at the club. New to the coaching staff this season Paolo Vanoli, who joins as assistant to the first team head coach, and Davide Mazzotta. The latter will operate in a dual role as an assistant and within player analysis.

Club director Marina Granovskaia congratulated Conte, she told the : Antonio achieved incredible success last season, adapting to English football very quickly and leading us to the Premier League title. This new contract reflects our belief that he can continue to deliver results both domestically and as we return to European competition in the Champions League.”
