Turkish goalkeeper’s agent says Liverpool want to sign his client

that Liverpool are one of a number of European sides tracking the impressive stopper.

Starting the season as a back-up goalkeeper, 23-year-old Cakir broke into Trabzonspor’s first team in November and has since remained the SuperLig side’s first-choice goalkeeper.

In 23 league and cup appearances this season, the uncapped Turkish star has conceded just 25 goals and kept seven clean sheets. His impressive form has alerted clubs around Europe.

His agent, Engin Kırkpınar, has claimed that Liverpool are one of those sides interested in nabbing the youngster’s signature. But Liverpool are joined by second-placed French side Lille, and German outfit Schalke.

“Each team has a scout team. There is no official transfer offer from Schalke, Lille or Liverpool,”  “No official offer from Liverpool.”

TBR’s view

Liverpool’s first-choice goalkeeper is Alisson, and there is absolutely no chance the Brazilian will be knocked off his perch this summer. But Cakir could be brought in to act as back-up.

Simon Mignolet has remained Liverpool’s second-choice stopper, but the chances are that he may want to leave the club this summer in order to become first choice elsewhere.

Loris Karius remains on loan at Besiktas, so if Mignolet leaves, Cakir could well be brought to Anfield.
