Troy Deeney thinks Tottenham are much better when £45m player who Ange Postecoglou claims is unique is starting

Troy Deeney has told Tottenham Hotspur’s fans that Ange Postecoglou’s team are much more of a goal threat when one key player in particular is on the pitch.

Tottenham Hotspur made it three victories in a row as they defeated Ipswich Town 4-1 away at Portman Road as they bid to salvage their Premier League campaign.

Brennan Johnson’s brace along with goals from Djed Spence and Dejan Kulusevski secured the win for Ange Postecoglou’s men who are now ten points off the top five.

Tottenham upturn in form has coincided with several big-name players returning from injury and Deeney names the player in particular who has been a major boost for the North London club.

Brennan Johnson makes Tottenham more of a goal threat

Troy Deeney claims that Tottenham look much more threatening in front of goal when Brennan Johnson is on the pitch.

The forward marked his first start back from injury with two goals to take his tally to the season to 14 in all competitions.

Tottenham fans have strongly criticised Johnson this season, however, the Welsh international’s goal-scoring ability has been missed over recent weeks, according to the former Watford striker.

Deeney told the : “Timely for him to be back with two good goals. Tottenham have missed his direct play and obviously, that goal threat that he carries. Spurs are looking a lot more like the real attacking threat we know they can be.”

Postecoglou added Johnson is a unique player for his team claiming: “Brennan’s really good for us. We don’t really have another front third player like him. He just knows when to arrive at the right time. He’s really clinical.”

Johnson’s brace against Ipswich moves his three clear of Totteham’s next-highest goal scorer Dominic Solanke emphasising just how crucial the youngster has been for them.

Postecoglou’s team have managed to share the goals around the team nicely with five players having hit double digits for the campaign.
