Troy Deeney says Arsenal would win the league if they had £60m player in their squad
Arsenal look as though they could fall short in the Premier League title race for the third season in a row.
Liverpool are favourites to win the Premier League as things stand, and Arsenal do have some serious ground to make up on the Reds.

Gary Neville still believes Arsenal can win the league, but if the Gunners are to ascend to the top of the table, they need to step things up.
Arsenal have had issues in terms of scoring goals as of late. The Gunners failed to score from open play in three consecutive games in December and more firepower is needed.
Luckily, the January transfer window is open, and Arsenal have their eyes on a few attacking options.
Arsenal have looked at Viktor Gyokeres recently, while Mikel Arteta is a fan of Alexander Isak.
Speaking on TalkSPORT, Troy Deeney has been discussing Alexander Isak’s form for Newcastle, and he says that the Swedish striker would take Arsenal to the next level.

Alexander Isak would take Arsenal to the title
Deeney spoke about how well Isak has been playing recently.
The pundit claims that if Arsenal had Isak they would win the league, warning Newcastle that they need to do all they can to keep Isak and build their team around the man.
“That’s scary. I’ve said it before, but I think if Arsenal had him they would win the league. If I’m Newcastle they need to do everything they can to keep him and try to build that squad around him,” Deeney said.
Premier League champions’ top scorers
If there’s one thing Arsenal are missing right now, it’s a natural goalscorer.
The Gunners don’t have that player who can hit 20 goals a season, and history suggests that you do need a player who can hit that sort of number if you want to win the league.
Season | Premier League champions | Top scorer | Number of goals |
2023/24 | Manchester City | Erling Haaland | 27 |
2022/23 | Manchester City | Erling Haaland | 36 |
2021/22 | Manchester City | Kevin De Bruyne | 15 |
2020/21 | Manchester City | Ilkay Gundogan | 13 |
2019/20 | Liverpool | Mohamed Salah | 19 |
2018/19 | Manchester City | Sergio Aguero | 21 |
2017/18 | Manchester City | Sergio Aguero | 21 |
2016/17 | Chelsea | Diego Costa | 20 |
2015/16 | Leicester City | Jamie Vardy | 24 |
2014/15 | Chelsea | Diego Costa | 20 |
Manchester City were an anomaly in the early 2020s when they played without a natural striker, but aside from City, almost every Premier League champion in the last 15 years has had a goalscorer who is capable of hitting that 20-goal mark.
Arsenal don’t currently have that player, but, as Deeney says, Isak could be just what the doctor ordered at the Emirates.
Whether or not Arsenal are able to get Isak this month remains to be seen, but this could be a gamechanging signing for the Gunners if they managed to get this deal over the line.
