Troy Deeney says £40m Liverpool target is actually a better player than Mohamed Salah

Liverpool may well be facing life without Mohamed Salah come the summer.

The Egyptian continues to be linked with a move to Saudi Arabia, and the reality is that the Merseyside club may lose their star man this summer.

Potential replacements have already been linked from the likes of Leroy Sane to Jarrod Bowen.

However, perhaps the most intriguing link to a potential Salah replacement came last week.

Indeed, Real Madrid’s Rodrygo Goes was linked with a move to both Arsenal and Liverpool last week, and now, speaking on , Troy Deeney has claimed that the Brazilian is actually a better player than Salah.

Rodrygo is better than Mohamed Salah says Troy Deeney

Deeney was discussing some of the best wingers in the world and the Real Madrid star.

“Rodrygo or Grealish?” Deeney was asked.

“Rodrygo,” Deeney said.

“Rodrygo or Salah? Deeney was asked.

“Oh, Rodrygo,” Deeney said.

Rodrygo is nowhere near Mohamed Salah

With all due respect to Troy Deeney’s opinion and Rodrygo’s ability as a player, we really can’t get on board with this idea.

Rodrygo is a fantastic footballer, make no mistake about it, but the most goals he has ever scored in a league season for Real Madrid is nine.

In stark contast, Salah regularly nets over 20 a season for Liverpool in the Premier League, and he does it without even breaking a sweat.

Salah is way more impactful that Rodrygo has ever been.

If Rodrygo does come to Liverpool as a potential option to replace Salah, he’ll have to almost double his current output as he’s currently nowhere near the level of the Egyptian king when it comes to scoring goals or getting assists.

In terms of natural talent, there isn’t all that much between Rodrygo and Salah, but in terms of who makes the bigger impact, there’s no debate to be had here.

Salah is almost in a league of his own when it comes to wingers in world football.
