Troy Deeney names shock Aston Villa player in Premier League Team of the Week after win vs Leicester

Aston Villa defeated newly promoted Leicester City 2-1 at King Power Stadium on Saturday.

The Villans took the lead just before the half-hour mark through Amadou Onana after a well-worked set piece.

But, Leicester rallied and were pushing for the equaliser leading into the interval before Jhon Duran added a second in the 63rd minute.

Brighton loanee Facundo Buonanotte pegged Aston Villa back shortly after but Unai Emery’s men held out and took all three points on the road.

BBC pundit Troy Deeney named two Villa players in his Premier League Team of the Week and one of his inclusions may raise a few eyebrows…

Troy Deeney names Lamare Bogarde in Premier League Team of the Week

Troy Deeney, writing in his , named Aston Villa left-back Lamare Bogarde in his Premier League Team of the Week.

“I’ve gone a bit different at the back. He made his debut for Aston Villa and handled himself very well,” the former Watford striker said.

Bogarde was making his Premier League debut out of position following a loan spell in the EFL with Bristol Rovers.

The 20-year-old endured an inconsistent game and certainly showed moments of quality, however, he was partly to blame for Leicester’s goal as Stephy Mavididi beat him all ends up in the box before chipping the ball back for Buonanotte to fire home.

Certainly a surprise inclusion by Deeney…

Amadou Onana also named in Troy Deeney’s Team of the Week

Deeney also named Amadou Onana, the opening goalscorer, in his Team of the Week, which was much less of a surprise.

“I was at this game and he was miles better than anybody else. He ran through people. When he came off, Aston Villa looked like they could lose the game. He had been running away from people and putting in massive tackles.”
