Dean Jones has just suggested that Liverpool could attempt a swap deal to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha this summer.

The Brazilian has been a star at Elland Road since he joined them from Rennes in October 2020. He has arguably been Leeds’ best player, and he has been linked with some of the biggest clubs in the world over the last few months.

Bayern Munich were the first club linked with Raphinha before Barcelona reportedly stepped up their interest. Between those two European giants, rumours of Liverpool’s interest in the talented winger have come up time and again, and Jones believes a deal is possible.

The journalist claimed this week that the Reds may have a ‘trick up their sleeve’ to sign Raphinha, and that trick may well help Leeds United out as well.

Liverpool may offer a swap deal to sign Raphinha from Leeds United

Leeds have been pretty adamant about their demands for Raphinha. revealed a few days ago that the Whites have told Barcelona they want at least £55 million for the Brazilian this summer.

That is a lot of money, but that figure will come down considerably if Liverpool offer a player in exchange to sign the tricky winger. That’s exactly what Dean Jones thinks the Reds will do if they really want to sign him this summer.

He told : “That (someone like Takumi Minamino going the other way) is one thing to consider. If they are serious about Raphinha, then they’ve got that little trick up their sleeve that they can suddenly offer a player that would really help Leeds out.

“And it will help them fulfil the player’s ambition to make that switch that he’s looking for. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if something like that ends up being put to them.”

With Sadio Mane set to leave Liverpool this summer, Jurgen Klopp is on the lookout for a new attacker.

Mo Salah’s presence on the right flank makes it difficult to imagine how Raphinha would even fit in, but that doesn’t mean Klopp can’t find a way.

Liverpool could easily play Salah up top with Luis Diaz and Raphinha either side of him. That would arguably make the Reds’ already-dangerous attack even more deadly, but it won’t be easy to pull off this deal.

A report from Spain revealed not too long ago that Raphinha, , rejected Liverpool’s approach of a cash-plus-player deal that would’ve seen Minamino go the other way. Read the full story here.
